Art Prints
Bookbinding is my passion, and printmaking is my obsession. I am constantly challenging the limits of detail that I can achieve by carving into linoleum. I pull each print one at a time on antique presses and print on archival paper using offset lithography inks and colorfast pigments.
Alphabetic Bestiary of Endangered Animals
Alphabetic Bestiary of Endangered Animals
This collection of animals and letters are part of an ongoing series that depict endangered and extinct animal species. Each endangered or extinct animal is designed with a corresponding decorated initial which can be purchased separately. Designed as educational tools for children, once the series is complete each letter and animal will be combined to create an alphabetic bestiary coloring book. This listing is for the initial proof prints of that series. Subsequent letters and animals will be added as they are printed.
This series of prints are inspired by Medieval manuscripts, historiated initials, german woodcuts, bestiaries, and educational coloring books.
Each animal and letter is an original design that was then carved into a 4"x 4" linoleum block, paired with hand set 24pt Bernard Gothic Light, and printed separately on an antique letterpress. The printed area of each animal and letter print measures 4" x 5.625" on roughly 5.5" x 8.5" Mohawk Via. Signed & numbered edition of 55.
